Drew Berryessa to speak at Center Point

Will present message on ‘Truth, Love and Sexuality’

Do you hold to a traditional Biblical view of marriage but also have family, neighbors, classmates, or coworkers in the LGBT community? Would you like to know how to avoid compromising your values, but still be genuinely loving and gracious to all those around you?

Nationally-known speaker Drew Berryessa will present his message on Truth, Love and Sexuality at Center Point Church in Mountain Lake on Sunday, September 24, beginning at 6 p.m. Speaking from his own experience of coming out of the LGBT community, Berryessa is uniquely qualified to help the church address this matter in a compassionate, yet biblical manner. Below is more about Berryessa from his website: http://www.alivingletter.org/

In 1996, Drew surrendered his broken sexuality to the Lordship of Christ, leaving behind a homosexual relationship for the promise of scripture that whoever would seek to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. Matthew 16:25. Drew chose to trust Christ with his future, believing  that the Word of God was trustworthy, and that Christ would be faithful to give him a life worth living outside of a homosexual identity or relationship. This surrender began a process of transformation and healing, confronting the issues of same sex attraction and overall relational dysfunction in his life.

“Drew first found the ministry of Portland Fellowship (Portand, Oregon) in 1999, seeking help with his struggle. God met him there, and through the ministry’s discipleship programs, Drew experienced tremendous healing and transformation. Wanting to give back what he had received; Drew began volunteering in 2001, and then joined the staff of Portland Fellowship in 2004.

With the increase in cultural and theological shifts regarding God’s transformative power, Drew’s ministry is to be a redemptive voice of truth to the body of Christ. Drew’s life and testimony stand in stark contrast to the current cultural narrative about homosexuality, demonstrating instead what Christ can do for a sexually-broken life submitted to His Lordship.

Drew is a graduate of Multnomah Bible College in Portland, holding a Bachelors Degree in Ministry and Leadership. However, his most prized titles are that of husband and father. Drew and his wife Suzanne have been married since 2004, and together have the joy of raising their three daughters, Elaina, Olivia, and Bailey.
