Linda Friesen

A Celebration of Life Service for 85-year-old Linda Friesen of Mountain Lake, Minnesota will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday morning, July 22, 2017, at Community Bible Church in Mountain Lake with Pastor Daniel Strutz officiating. The church is located at 500 Klein Street.

Interment will be in Mountain Lake City Cemetery, located on 10th Street North at Midway Road.

Visitation will be Friday, July 21, 2017, at Sturm Funeral Home-Mountain Lake Chapel, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The funeral home is located at 420 10th Street North. A second visitation will be held at the church the day of the service from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Linda Friesen passed away today (Wednesday, July 19, 2017), at the Good Samaritan Society of Mountain Lake-The Village.

Linda Mae Friesen, the daughter of Henry S. and Nettie (Seibel) Loewens was born on April 10, 1932 in Mountain Lake. After graduating from Mountain Lake High School in 1950, she attended Grace Bible Institute in Omaha, Nebraska.

She married her high school sweetheart, Ralph Friesen, on December 30, 1952. They made their home and farmed together near Mountain Lake until 1986. In 1989, they moved to Mountain Lake.

Linda was a wonderful wife and mother. She and Ralph were married almost 61 years, with Ralph predeceasing her in October 2013. Together they raised three children and kept very busy on the farm. She loved to sing and often sang duets with Ralph, as part of a ladies sextet and with the church choir.

She also worked at the Mountain Lake Public Library, volunteered at Good Samaritan Society of Mountain Lake-The Village and Care and Share.

Linda enjoyed spending time with her family and loved being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Stanton (Theresa) Friesen of Brandon, South Dakota, Bruce (Darla) Friesen of Delft, Minnesota and Michelle (Kevin) Ratzlaff of Mountain Lake; grandchildren, Thomas (Jackie) Friesen, Alicia (Brian) DeVries, Christopher, Brianna and Danae Friesen, Krystie (Mike) Haden and Travis (Bobbielee) Ratzlaff; great-grandchildren, Makenzie, Corbyn, Tyler, Sara, Cade, Hannah, Rachel, Nehemiah, Madison, Hunter, Kyle, Hayden and Finn; great-great-grandson, Brantly; her sisters: Elsie Schultz, Alice (David) Hooge and Carol (Wally) Clement and brothers: Norman Loewens and Jim (Darlene) Loewens.

Linda was preceded in death by her husband; parents; granddaughter, Sheila Embertson; brothers, Orlando (Marie) Loewens and LaVern (Amanda) Loewens; sister, Evelyn (John) Stoesz; sister-in-law, Dora Loewens and brothers-in-law, Vern Suderman, Art Rahn and Jim Schultz.
