MLPD holds Bike Rodeo this morning

mountain lake police featureThe Mountain Lake Police Department (MLPD) held a Bike Rodeo for young bicyclists this morning (Saturday, June 10) in the parking lot of the Cornerstone Bible Church. On hand were Mountain Lake Police Chief Doug Bristol and Mountain Lake Police Officer Emily Mathiowetz. Assisting were Community Wellness Partners Active Living, Workplace Wellness and Diabetes Prevention Lead at Des Moines Valley Health & Human Services Amber Hughes, along with biking aficionado Luke Winger. Cornerstone Bible Youth Group members, led by Youth Pastor Micah Siebert, also helped with the rodeo drills, and served up lunch to the participants.

Winter and Bristol kicked off the event completing safety inspections and making minor adjustments to bicycles (inflating tires and checking and correcting brakes, pedals, bike chains, handlebars and reflectors), as well as fitting rodeo participants with free bike helmets.
