Nancy was born to her parents, Carsten and Anna Nelson, on July 25, 1933 in Minneapolis Minnesota. As a young child, she enjoyed many adventures with her brother, Marvin. Her Norwegian heritage was shown through her love of speed-skating and watching hockey (loudly). She graduated from Minneapolis South High School in 1951, and attended the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. She was baptized, confirmed, taught Sunday School and was President of the Luther League at Bethany Lutheran Church of Minneapolis. As a young woman, she became a member of the Civil Defense Spotter Program, from where she was proud to have earned her “Wings.” She worked at Minneapolis Moline as a secretary. During her time with the company, she was chosen to represent Minneapolis Moline as a Minneapolis Aquatennial candidate. In 1953, she represented the United States Navy in eight parades on their Recruitment float.

She was united in marriage to Daniel Stoesz on March 19, 1955. They spent some of their early living in Butterfield Minnesota and Bloomington Minnesota, eventually settling in Mountain Lake.

Nancy enjoyed a busy, full family life that brought her great joy. She also shared her remarkable strength with family and friends, even as her life filled with many trials and sorrows. Through her courageous, seven-year battle with cancer, her kindness, love and laughter never stopped, and her smile and spirit never faded.

Her later years were spent working at the former Mountain Lake Community Hospital, Good Samaritan Society of Mountain Lake-The Village and volunteering for the American Red Cross. She enjoyed crocheting (blue ribbon winners), traveling (trespassing on Pentagon grounds), playing piano (beautifully) and spending time with family and friends (her laugh was contagious). Her grandchildren were her life and inspiration.

She is survived by her daughter, Karen Stoesz of Mountain Lake; son, Kenton Stoesz of Mountain Lake; daughter, Kathleen Hagfors (David Sanford) of Glenwood, Minnesota and her children, Alexander Quiring of Waconia, Minnesota and Amanda Quiring of Chaska, Minnesota; daughter, Kristine (Michael) Hudson of Mountain Lake and their daughter, Taylor Hudson and brother, Marvin C. Nelson of Champlin, Minnesota.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Carsten and Anna Nelson; husband, Daniel Stoesz; son, Curtis Stoesz; son, Perry Stoesz; granddaughter, Danielle Hudson, and sister-in-law, Phyllis Nelson.

Nancy has traded in her superhero cape for angel wings.
