Funeral services for 63-year-old Brenda Meyer of Butterfield, Minnesonta, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday morning, May 26, 2017, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mountain Lake, Minnesota. The church is located at 1418 2nd Avenue.

Visitation will be at LaCanne Family Funeral Home in Windom, Minnesota, on Thursday, May 25, 2017, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. The funeral home is located 2280 6th Avenue. A second visitation will be at the church the day of the service from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

On Sunday, May 21, 2017, Brenda became suddenly ill while in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and was hospitalized at Avera-McKennan Hospital. She passed away there that evening.

Memorials are preferred to the CARE Committee at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Mountain Lake.

Brenda Lea Meyer was born on January 18, 1954, in Comfrey, Minnesota to Marvin Arthur and Iris LaVonne (Amsden) Bottin. She was baptized at Stately Township, Comfrey and later confirmed at the American Lutheran Church in Windom. Brenda received her early education at Winfair Elementary in Windom and graduated from the Windom Area High School with the Class of 1972. She then furthered her education at the Rochester Technical College in Rochester, Minnesota, where she received a degree in Psychiatric Tech and then her LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) degree in 1977. In the early 1990s, she attended Worthington Community College in Worthington, Minnesota and received her RN (Registered Nurse) degree and later her Master’s in Business.

On September 1, 1979, Brenda was united in marriage to Thomas Lee Meyer at the American Lutheran Church in Windom. After marriage, they lived in Butterfield up until the present time. For the past 44 years, Brenda had worked at Preferred Residential Lifestyles/Home for Creative Living in Windom as their home care administrator.

Brenda was a longtime, dedicated member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Mountain Lake where she was an usher, a member of the Altar Guild, on the prayer chain, a member of the CARE Committee, on several other boards and helped out wherever needed. She also was involved in her community as a member of the Butterfield Community Club, ARC and the chair of the Mayo Clinic Health Systems-St. James Community Development Committee. She will be remembered for her love of kids and cardinals.

Brenda is survived by her husband of 37 years, Thomas Meyer of Butterfield; mother, Bonnie Bottin of Windom; brothers and sisters, Mike (Sally) Bottin of Madelia, Minnesota, Doug (Staci) Bottin of Madelia, Pat (Ole) Strand of Bloomington, Minnesota, Mary Sprint of Mankato, Minnesota and Alice Sorenson of Richfield, Minnesota; 21 nieces and nephews and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Marvin Bottin.
