The City of Mountain Lake’s city-wide clean-up day  is this Saturday, May 6. Items for pickup should be placed curbside no earlier than Thursday, May 4. On pickup day, items should be at the curb by 6 a.m. This clean-up is available only to residents of the City of Mountain Lake – utility customers outside the Mountain Lake city limits cannot participate.

Items not picked up (see below for special info on those items):

+ Mattresses and box springs.

+ Florescent light bulbs.

+ Appliances.

+ Televisions, computers and other electronic devices.

+ Tires.

+ Household hazardous waste – including cleaners, paint, paint thinners, fertilizers, oven/drain cleaners, gasoline, motor oil, oil filters, pesticides, car batteries, etc.

+ Large amounts of construction debris.

+ Yard waste.

+ Recycling.

Items that remain at the curb after clean-up must be removed. Administrative citations will be issued to violators of the city’s Nuisance Ordinance.

+ Mattresses and box springs must be recycled, and may be on the city-wide clean-up day. For curb-side pick-up, purchase a recycling sticker at Mountain Lake City Hall at $13 each. Mattresses and box springs WITHOUT stickers WILL NOT be picked up.

+ Mattresses and box springs, household appliances, electronics and televisions, computers, tires, florescent light bulbs and household hazardous waste can be recycled any time at the Cottonwood County Landfill, located at 43973 Cottonwood County Road #22 – OR – be brought to the Cottonwood County Highway Shop in Mountain Lake, located at 2603 3rd Avenue on Thursday, June 8, during “Mountain Lake Recycling Day.” Disposal fees apply at either location).

+ Yard waste may be disposed of at the city’s burn site north of Mountain Lake. April, May and June hours are Wednesdays, 4-7 p.m. and Saturdays, 9 a.m.-12 noon and 1 p.m.-4 p.m.

+ Large amounts of construction debris should be taken to the demolition site at the Cottonwood County Landfill. Disposal fees do apply.

+ Regularly-scheduled curbside recycling pickup is Wednesday, April 26 and Wednesday, May 10.
