‘In the shadows’

Bethel to hold Tenebrae service commemorating Christ’s Passion

Bethel Mennonite Church of Mountain Lake will hold a Tenebrae service commemorating Christ’s Passion on Good Friday, April 14, beginning at 7:30 p.m. The worship will be presented under the theme, “The Servant of All.” The church is located at 301 9th Street North.

The word “tenebrae” comes from the Latin and indicates darkness. Tenebrae is a moving “Service of Shadows” commemorating Christ’s passion, using scripture, story and song. As the audience follows Jesus through is passion into growing darkness, lights and candles are extinguished, ending the service in total darkness and silence (and theoretically beginning a vigitl which concluces with the resurrection on Easter Sunday morning).

All are invited to join the unique worship experience.
