Wolverine boys will face USC on Monday

Rebels down Madelia in Region 2A South Sub-Section piggyback game

 

THE MOUNTAIN LAKE Area (MLA) Wolverine boys basketball squad, the #2-seed in the Minnesota State High School League’s (MSHSL) Section 2A South Sub-Section tourney bracket, will face United South Central (USC) in a 7 p.m. game at the Mountain Lake Public School gym on Monday, March 6. The Rebels, the seventh seed defeated the #10-seed, Madelia, in a Thursday, March 2 piggyback game at Wells, 70 to 40. Receiving the top seed in the South Sub-Section was Springfield. Seeded third was Janesville/Waldorf/Pemberton (JWP); Mankato Loyola was seeded fourth; the fifth seed, Truman/Martin Luther/Granada-Huntley-East Chain; St. Clair, sixth; USC, seventh; Nicollet, eighth; Alden/Conger, ninth and Madelia, tenth. Springfield will face the winner of the Nicollet-Alden/Conger contest. If the Wolverines score a victory on March 6, they will play at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday, March 9 at Lake Crystal/Wellcome Memorial, and will face the winner of the St. Clair/JWP match-up (also played on March 6). The #1-seed in the Section 2A North Sub-Section was Cedar Mountain/Comfrey.
