K-12 Principal Barry Schmidt to leave B-OPS

Barry Schmidt of Trmont, who has served as K-12 principal at Butterfield-Odin Public School (B-OPS) since July 2012, will be leaving the district to serve as superintendent for West Central Area School in Barrett. The move will bring Schmidt back to his hometown area.

The date he will leave B-OPS has not yet been determined, but he will begin his new duties on July 1.

His wife, Allison, serves as superintendent for Martin County West in Sherburn.

Prior to coming to B-OPS, Schmidt was a Health and Physical Education teacher at Madelia Public Schools from 2000 to 2012. He received his Specialists Degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from Minnesota State University-Mankato (MSU) in 2012, and his Superintendent, Educational Leadership and Administration in 2015.
