Bethel College Concert Choir in performance at Bethel Church

Spring Break Tour brings group to Mountain Lake on March 18

The Bethel College Concert Choir from Bethel College in North Newton, Kansas, will be taking its annual Spring Break Tour from March 18 to 26. The choir will open with a performance at Bethel Mennonite Church on Saturday, March 18, beginning at 7 p.m. There is no admission fee, and all are welcome to attend. A free will offering will be collected, with 90% of proceeds going to the Mennonite Central Committee (MCC), as designated by the concert choir. Ten percent of funds raised will be presented to Loaves & Fishes Food Shelf in Mountain Lake. The church is located at 301 9th Street North.

In addition to the stop in Mountain Lake, the concert choir will present programs in the Upper Midwest and even one in Canada. Following the local performance, the group will be going to Freeman, South Dakota and then to Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

Bethel College is a four-year, private, liberal-arts college located in south-central Kansas and is affiliated with the Mennonite Church USA denomination.

MCC is a global relief, service and peacebuilding organization supported by the Anabaptist Christian churches in North America.

Dr. William Eash, Bethel College professor of music and director of choral activities, directs the 49-voice concert Choir.

The choir’s tour program includes mostly sacred music, with several spirituals and a number of works by contemporary composers, including Eric Whitacre, Michael J. Mills, Gwyneth Walker and Ysaye M. Barnwell.
