THE MOUNTAIN LAKE Area (MLA) Wolverine varsity boys basketball team were out to halt the Rebels’ cause in a Thursday, February 16 home game against Murray County Central (MCC) And they did, winning the Red Rock Conference game by 10 points, 61 to 51. At the half, the Wolverines were up by six, 27 to 21. Levi Stoesz led the way for MLA scorers, tallying 18 points. Kris Menken tacked on 12 and went on to record a double-double by grabbing 12 boards. Adding eight points and eight boards was Aaron Fast. MCC was led by Cole Bassett’s 22 points. Nate Everson added nine points. The Wolverines – 15-7 on the season and 9-4 in the Red Rock – play at Okabena against Heron Lake/Okabena on Tuesday, February 21.
