MLA boys’ comeback comes up just short

Down by 12 points, Wolverines rally but lose at Adrian 70-69

IN A ONE-day weather-delayed game, the Mountain Lake Area (MLA) Wolverine boys basketball squad rallied from being 12 points down by one point, but were just clipped in a Red Rock Conference game at Adrian on Saturday, February 25, 70 to 69.  The Wolverines’ comeback was aided by poor Adrian shooting from the charity stripe, missing on five free throws in the last 30 seconds of the game. Down by one, the game came down to a MLA shot from 25 feet away that unfortunately missed the mark. For the Wolverines, Levi Stoesz led with 19 points. Marcus Boyd scored 16 while Weston Osland and Aaron Fast each had 14. Mitchell Lonneman was the leader for the home team with 35 points. Teammates Zach Hendel had 16 points and Wieneke, 11. Hendel had 10 rebounds and Wieneke had five assists. MLA’s record is 15-8 overall and 10-5 in the conference. The Wolverines’ final regular season game is at home tonight (Monday, February 27) against another Red Rock rival, Westbrook/Walnut Grove.
