MOUNTAIN LAKE AREA (MLA) Wolverine boys basketball team took a narrow two-point lead (35-33) into the locker room at the half, and expanded that margin to eventually claim an 11-point conference win over Westbrook/Walnut Grove (WWG) at Westbrook on Tuesday night, December 13, 73 to 62. Strong two-pronged performances in rebounding and at the free throw line were integral to the win. On the offensive boards, MLA claimed 16, compared to nine for WWG. From the charity stripe, the Wolverines hit 16 of 22. The Chargers made 15 of 25. Wolverine senior Levi Stoesz topped all scorers, lacing 23 points. A trio of juniors also had double-digit scoring days. Weston Osland nailed 19, Marcus Boyd scored 13 and Kris Menken, 10. WWG’s Anthony Ross scored 16, with teammate Kyle Kuehl adding 14. The win extends MLA’s undefeated season record to 5-0, Next up for the squad is a boys/girls double header at Southwest Christian in Edgerton this Friday, December 16.
