Nelda Anderson

Funeral services for 82-year-old Nelda Anderson of Windom, Minnesota, will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday afternoon, December 19,  2016, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Mountain Lake, Minnesota. The church is located at 1418 2nd Avenue.

Visitation will be at LaCanne Family Funeral Home in Windom on Sunday, December 18, 2016, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The funeral home is located at 2280 6th Avenue. A second visitation will be held at the church the day of the funeral service from 12 noon to 1 p.m.

Nelda Anderson passed away on Wednesday morning, December 14, 2016, at Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, following a recent fall.

Nelda Lee Anderson was born on January 25, 1934 on a farm in Diamond Lake, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Edna (Welch) Smith. She was baptized and later confirmed in the Methodist Church. She attended country school in Loon Lake, Iowa and graduated from Spirit Lake High School in Spirit Lake, Iowa.

Nelda was united in marriage to Howard Morgan in 1952 in Spirit Lake. This marriage was later dissolved.

On February 9, 1960, Nelda was united in marriage to Floyd Anderson in Spirit Lake. After their marriage they lived in St. Paul, Okabena and St. Peter, all of Minnesota, before making their home in Windom. Nelda worked as an assembler at Toro in Windom for many years and then went to work for Home for Creative Living (HCL) in Windom as a direct caregiver before retiring in 2006.

Nelda was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Mountain Lake. She volunteered at the Sharing Center in Windom, was a member of Al-Anon and was a Cub Scout and Brownie Troop leader. She had many enjoyments in life including sewing, playing cards with friends, camping with family, birds, gardening, music and going to concerts, dancing and most of all, spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Nelda is survived by her children, Randall (Jackie) Morgan of Alma, Wisconsin, Gary (Roberta) Anderson of Lakefield, Minnesota, Becky Jacobson (special friend, Tom Griffin) of Heron Lake, Minnesota, Dawn Eller of Fairmont, Minnesota, Pam Franz of Rochester, Minnesota, Kim (Greg) Gohr of Mountain Lake and Brenda (Steve) Jensen of Jackson, Minnesota; 17 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Leanna Lundquist of Worthington; many nieces and nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Floyd Anderson; siblings, Nellie Copland, Carroll Smith, A. Eugene Smith, Derrill Smith, Richard Smith, Travis Smith, Evelyn Lange, Leonard Smith and an infant brother.
