Cobras go down twice at Tracy Tri

The Windom/Mountain Lake (WML) Cobra varsity wrestlers went down twice during matches on Tuesday night, December 13, at the Tracy Triangular.

W/ML was defeated by Tracy-Milroy-Balaton/Westbrook-Walnut Grove (TMB/WWG),  48 to 25, and also lost to Wabasso/Red Rock Central (W/RRC) by a similar score, 45-24.

The Cobras gave up five matches by forfeit in the match with TMB/WWG, and four to W/RRC.

Against TMB/WWG, the Cobras four wins, two by pin. Claiming pins were Zach Spinks at 132 pounds, over Tyler Vandendriessche and Alex Borsgard at 138, taking down Anthony Axford. At 113, Brett Willaby picked up an 18-4 major decision over Levi Ellingson and at 126, Hunter Ekstrom won 4-2 over Derek VanDam. At 220 pounds, W/ML collected a forfeit.

W/RCC took those four forfeit wins and added three pins to build their lead over the Cobras.

Victors in this match for W/ML included a pin by Brett Willaby over Ben Johnson in 1:49 at 113 pounds; Hunter Ekstrom in a 14-1 major decision over Alex Schmiesing at 120; Kade Sammons claiming a 16-1 tech fall over Josh Hesse at 126 and at 152, Alex Borsgard defeated Jared Schroepfer with a 7-4 decision.

The Cobras will host a triangular meet in Windom on Thursday, December 15.
