Grace Schriock

grace-schriockFuneral services for 94-year-old Grace Schriock of Mountain Lake, Minnesota, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning, September 27, 2016, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Mountain Lake, with Rev. Ben Perkins officiating. The church is located at 1418 2nd Avenue.

Interment will be in Mountain Lake City Cemetery, located on 10th Street North at Midway Road.

Visitation will be at Sturm Funeral Home-Mountain Lake Chapel, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, September 26, 2016. The funeral home is located at 420 10th Street North. A second visitation will be held at the church the day of the funeral services, beginning at 9:30 a.m. Online condolences to the family may be sent at www.sturmfh.com.

Grace Schriock passed away peacefully on Friday, September 23, 2016 at the Good Samaritan Society of Mountain Lake-The Village.

Grace Gertrude Hippen was born July 2, 1922, to parents Frank and Bessie (Valentien) Hippen. She was born on the family farm near Comfrey, Minnesota, where she grew up and attended school. As a young child, Grace was a member of the Christian Reformed Church.

On January 30, 1946, Grace was united in marriage to Jacob Schriock. The couple made their home in Mountain Lake. In 1946, Grace was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mountain Lake, where she remained a faithful member.

During her lifetime, she worked at Lil’s Drive Inn, Dairy Queen and Gambles, all of Mountain Lake, and did housecleaning.

Jacob Schriock passed away in 1974.

She was active in the American Legion Auxiliary and also in a 500 card club. Grace enjoyed yard and garden work, bowling, traveling and making quilts, whether they were for her kids, grandkids or missions.

Grace will be missed and remembered by her sons, Jim Schriock and friend, Mary of Overland Park, Kansas and Stan (Linda) Schriock of Mankato, Minnesota; daughters, Kathy (Ken) Mathistad and Bev (Bruce) Falk, all of Mountain Lake; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and sister, Gertrude Aswegan.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sister, Deloris (Harold) Gatzlaff; daughter-in-law, Jan Schriock and sisters- and brothers-in-law, Linda (Aron) Thiessen, Wilma (Herman) Schriock and Luke Aswegan.
