Funeral services for 94-year-old Evelyn M. Sackett of Mountain Lake, Minnesota, will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday morning, August 22, 2016, at Alliance Missionary Church in Mountain Lake. The church is located at 809 5th Avenue.
Interment will be in Mountain Lake City Cemetery, located on 10th Street North at Midway Road.
Visitation will be at the church the day of the funeral service from 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.
Sturm Funeral Home-Mountain Lake Chapel is handling the arrangements.
Evelyn Sackett passed away on Friday, August 19, 2016.
Evelyn Marie Sackett was born on July 16, 1922 in Windom, Minnesota, the daughter of Herbert S. and Mayme Emma (Moulton) Sackett. Evelyn attended grade school in Windom, and graduated Salutatorian of her senior class in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota. She then attended Mankato State, studying the upholstery profession. She followed that profession for over 50 years.
Evelyn enjoyed gardening and flowers, giving food to her family and friends and making bouquets for the church for many years. Music was an important part of her life, singing in duets with her sister, Virginia, and also in the church choir. She also played the cello and the violin for the church and nursing homes. Evelyn loved to work with her hands crocheting or knitting. She knit over 200 sweaters for needy children through the Guide Post Project.
Survivors include her nephew, James (Linda) Anderson of Hartford, South Dakota and niece, Monica (Chet Kroeker) Whitson of St. Cloud, Minnesota.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Mildred Sackett and Virginia and husband M. Robert Anderson.
