evie oeltjenbrunsFuneral services for 81-year-0ld Evelyn “Evie” Oeltjenbruns will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning, August 9, 2016, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mountain Lake. The church is located at 1418 2nd Avenue.

Interment will be in Mountain Lake City Cemetery, located on 10th Street North at Midway Road.

Visitation will be on Monday, August 8, 2016, from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Sturm Funeral Home-Mountain Lake Chapel. The funeral home is located at 420 10th Street North. A second visitation will be held the at the church the day of the funeral service from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Evie Oeltjenbruns passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2016, following a courageous battle against cancer.

Evelyn “Evie” Ruth Oeltjenbruns was born on July 22, 1935 in Buffalo Center, Iowa, the daughter of William and Louise (Voss) Bechtel. She grew up and graduated from Sherburn High School in Sherburn, Minnesota.

Evie married John William Oeltjenbruns on June 30, 1957 in Sherburn. They lived on a farm north of Mountain Lake until 1997, when they retired and moved into town. Evie was very active in her church, Trinity Lutheran. She was part of LWML, Women’s Bible Study, Church Choir, Sunday School Superintendent and Teacher and helped with memory work for confirmation classes. She was also the Coordinator for the American Red Cross Bloodmobile, member of the Red Hatters and volunteered at the Good Samaritan Society of Mountain Lake-The Village for many years.

Evie enjoyed the many trips she and John took over the years. They also loved going to dances at Fox Lake Ballroom in Sherburn and loved playing cards with her family and friends. She was an avid collector of bells, snowmen and loved flowers. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren will always remember her laugh and smile. She will be remembered by her many friends for her willingness to listen, offer words of encouragement and her laugh!

Survivors include, her loving husband of 59 years, John of Mountain Lake; sons, Brad (Lori) of Dayton, Iowa and Brian (Lynette) of Mountain Lake; daughter, Sherri Severson of Owatonna; grandchildren, Emily (John) Koglin, Melanie Oeltjenbruns, Tracy Oeltjenbruns, Owen Oeltjenbruns, Jennifer (Tim) Schlund, Dylan Oeltjenbruns, Daniel Oeltjenbruns and Caitlin Oeltjenbruns; great-grandchildren, Jeremiah, Adrianna and Logan Schlund; sisters, Doreen (John) Adams of Austin, Minnesota, Florence Childs of Mankato Minnesota and Elsie Johnson of Seattle, Washington.

She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson. Michael Oeltjenbruns; sisters, Dorothy Hans, Ida Mae Pierson and Shirley Stough and brothers, Willis, William Jr. and Donald Bechtel.
