Ten Trinity Lutheran Church youth, pastor head to western North Carolina
ELEVEN SERVANTS WERE sent off early Thursday morning, July 7, from Mountain Lake – specifically from Trinity Lutheran Church – on a course for Asheville, North Carolina in the western part of the state. They are en route to take part in the 35th Appalachian Servant Event, the longest-running high school servant event for the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LCMS). This year, it runs from July 9 to July 20. While spending nearly two weeks in the mountains of Appalachia, the youth and adults complete light construction work, painting, cleaning – and extreme digging of septic sites. These volunteers make a difference in the lives of the people who make their home in that area of the country through meaningful work; plus they make friends they keep for a lifetime. Most importantly, the participants take leaveĀ fromĀ their experiences with a deepened connection to their Savior’s servant sacrifice for them as well as others, and are further inspired and empowered to be Christ’s hands and feet on earth. Those participating include, front, Heather Pankratz, left and Aleesha Jepsen, right. Middle, from left, Ashley Watkins, Meredith Suess, Carly Paulson, Margaret Kispert and Kyla Perkins. Back, from left, Madison Schroeder, Pastor Peter Kufahl, Ethan Karschnik and Jae Faber. (Trinity Lutheran Church photo)
