On Monday, May 2, the Butterfield-Odin Public School (B-OPS) School Board had named the two finalists for the position of half-time superintendent for the school district.

Those two finalists were –

+ Jerry Reker – a retired high school principal from Kasson/Mantorville Public Schools.

+ Barry Schmidt – associate principal at B-OPS.

Candidate interviews, open to the public, were held Thursday, May 5. The public was also given the opportunity to provide feedback to the board by completing an attribute point sheet on each candidate.

Only one finalist – Jerry Reker – was interviewed that evening, as Schmidt withdrew his name from consideration.

The B-OPS Board plans on approving a contract with a new superintendent, following negotiations, at their meeting on Monday, May 16, beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Media Center. If approved, the new superintendent will begin services with the school as of July 1, 2016.
