. . . Fishy, fish out of the ice I took
The MLOOSC (Mountain Lake/Odin/Ormsby Sportsmen’s Club) held its Annual Ice Fishing Contest on Mountain Lake on Saturday, January 30. A total of 92 participated in the adult division, with 17 children dropping a line in the kids’ contest.
There were four categories of fish for the contest – bass, northern, walleye and pan fish.
In the adult division, pay back was $69 for first-place, $42 for second and $28 for third. For the kids, the winner claimed $43; second-place, $26 and third, $17.
The top three in each category were as follows:
Bass
+ First-place – John Boyd, 5.96#.
+ Second-place – Kevin Grunewald, 1.34#.
+ Third-place (tie) – David Sandbo and Kevin Ella, 1.32#.
Northern
+ First-place – Marlin Osland, 14.96#.
+ Second-place – Jason DeWall, 9.06#.
+ Third-place – John Lesch, 8.32#.
Walleye
+ First-place – David Sandbo, 3.02#.
+ Second-place – Matt Anderson, 2.82#.
+ Third-place (name drawn) – Josie DeWall.
Pan Fish
+ First-place – Steve Wolf, 1.14# crappie.
+ Second-place – Don Dunker, .54# perch.
+ Third-place – Dwight Burman, .52# perch.
Kids’ Division
+ First-place – Mason Neitzel, 1.24# bass.
+ Second-place – Cole Kleven, 1.02# bass.
+ Third-place – Mason Neitzen, .86# bass.
