MLPS School Board sets special election judges, absentee ballot board

The Mountain Lake Public School (MLPS) School Board approved the election judges and absentee ballot board for the November 3 special election at its Monday, September 21 meeting. Named as election judges and to the absentee ballot board were Miranda Stoesz, Esther Nelson, Heidi Jahnke and Mary Jefferson.

A special election will be held on Tuesday, November 3, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the high school, in conjunction with the general election of  four school board members. The special election will focus on revoking and replacing the school district’s current operating referendum revenue authorization.

Voting will also take place for four school board candidates of four-year terms each. There are four names on the ballot, all incumbents – Chad Pedersen, Julie Brugman, Pam Hoek and Tom Fast.

Part-time boiler operated hired

Board members approved the hiring of independent contractor Steve Knickrehm as a part-time boiler operator for Mountain Lake Public School, effective for this 2015-2016 school year. Knickrehm was hired at a rate of $150 per week.

In other business

+ Approved the Assurance of Compliance with State and Federal Law Prohibiting Discrimination.

+ Approved the intent to accept the Remick Foundation Grant donation, subject to the approval of the Remick Foundation.

+ Approved the proposed Levy Limitation and Certification 2015, payable 2016, at the maximum level.
