‘Unplug’ the Chargers, 54-14
Head Coach Tim Kirk’s Mountain Lake Area (MLA) Wolverines Varsity 9-Man Football team went on the road to Westbrook Friday night, September 25, to take on the Westbrook-Walnut Grove (WWG) Chargers on their gridiron – and brought back with them to Mountain Lake a 54-14 victory.
This tallies another Red Rock Conference win and gives the squad a 5-1 season record.
Here is the scoring breakdown for the Wolverines:
+ Touchdown (TD) pass from junior quarterbac Levi Stoesz to senior running back Chris Boyd puts MLA up 6-0.
+ It is 12-0 on another TD pass from Stoesz to Boyd – this one for 52 yards.
+ Three times remains the charm; Stoesz to Boyd with a five-yard TD pass – it is 20-0. (Two-point conversion successful.)
+ Sophomore A. J. Vongsy intercepted the Chargers’ quarterback and ran it back for a TD – and a 28-0 MLA comfortable cushion. (Two-point conversion successful.)
+ A 34-0 MLA lead on a 23-yard TD pass from Stoesz to – who else – Boyd.
+ On a 72-yard run by Stoesz, the Wolverines are on top 42-0. (Two-point conversion successful.)
+ Chargers score on a run by tailback Anthony Koch. (Two-point conversion successful.) Score is MLA 42, WWG 8.
+ Running back Yeng Xiong runs it in from five yards out for WWG. A 42-14 Wolverine lead.
+ Vongsy scores 14-yard TD; 48-14 MLA.
+ It’s Vongsy again, this time from five yards out. Wolverines in front 54-14.
