B-OPS School Board approves acting superintendent

Former Comfrey Public School’s leader Allen Hoffman to serve

School Board members of the Butterfield-Odin Public School (B-OPS) District interviewed Allen Hoffman, former Comfrey Public School superintendent – and then unanimously approved his hiring as acting superintendent at a Tuesday evening, September 8 special board meeting.

Hofmann will come on a board as a contracted service (pending a background check) for one-to-two days per week for approximately 12 weeks while current B-OPS Superintendent Lisa Shellum is on FMLA (family medical leave of absence).

Hofmann retired as Comfrey’s superintendent/principal two years ago, has experience in the classroom as a teacher and is now also working in the College of Education at Minnesota State University-Mankato.

He comes to the school as an independent contractor, not an official school district employee. This means that he will not be given certain benefits. Hofmann proposed an estimated daily rate of $500, calculated by taking the current standard superintendent salary – with benefits – and dividing it into a per-day rate.
