Alvin Dick passed away on Friday, February 27, 2015, in Windom, Minnesota.

Alvin Harold Dick was born on April 25, 1935 in Bingham Lake, Minnesota, the son of Jacob and Lena (Schultz) Dick.

Alvin attended Mountain Lake Bible School during his elementary years (now Mountain Lake Christian or MLC), Junior High at Bingham Lake Public School and Senior High at Mountain Lake Public High School School. After graduating from Tabor College in Hillsboro, Kansas in 1957, Alvin completed alternative service in Denver, Colorado, where he met Bernice Gregory. They were married on August 26, 1960.

They farmed west of Mountain Lake with his father until his father’s retirement in 1972, at which time Alvin’s brother, Willard, joined the partnership. Alvin retired in 2000.

Alvin’s life of service included School Board Secretary of MLC; church council member, deacon and Sunday School teacher at Community Bible Church and as a member of Gideons International.

His love of history extended from restoring Farmall tractors to reading about Anabaptist history. During the 16 years
Alvin spent on the Heritage Village Board of Directors, he enjoyed the practical side of keeping the Village functioning. He also served as a tour guide, sharing about history in general – and Mountain Lake in particular.

He is survived by his wife, Bernice of Mountain Lake; sons Steven (Tania) Dick of Cartersville, Georgia, Johnathan (Vicki) Dick of Fresno, California and James (Shannon) Dick of Mountain Lake; his mother, Lena Dick of Mountain Lake; grandchildren, Lydia, Nadia, Savannah, Jacob, Sophia, Tyler and Audrey; brother, Willard (Margaret) Dick of Mountain Lake and sister, Dorothy (Arlie) Beier of Glasgow, Montana.

Alvin was preceded in death by his father, Jacob Dick.
