adeline pennerFuneral services for 83-year-old Adeline Penner of Mountain Lake, Minnesota, will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday morning, February 17, 2015, at First Mennonite Church of Butterfield, Minnesota, located at 65401 320th Street in rural Butterfield.

Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Pastor LeRoy Reynolds will serve as officiant for the services.

Visitation will be held at the church the day of the funeral from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Sturm Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Adeline Penner passed away on Friday, February 13, 2015, in Mountain Lake.

Adeline was born to Herbert and Katrina (Worms) Sawatzky on June 21, 1931 at Bethel Hospital in Mountain Lake. She was baptized at the First Mennonite Church north of Butterfield. She attended country school through grade 7.

Adeline married Walter B. Penner on November 2, 1950. They were blessed with four children: Bonnie, Darlene, Larry and Judy. Together they farmed north of Butterfield until they moved to Windom, Minnesota, in 1974.

She worked various jobs outside of the home. In 1992, they moved to Dovray, Minnesota.

Adeline enjoyed baking and trying new recipes, sewing and embroidering. She loved working outside with Walter, and she loved being with her family.

Adeline is survived by her children, Bonnie (Bob) Schroder of Sibley Iowa, Darlene Baerg of Windom, Larry (Marilyn) Penner of Bingham Lake Minnesota and Judy Duerksen of Mt Lake MN; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren with one on the way; three brothers, Jim (Rosalie) Sawatzky, Ron (Rita) Sawatzky and Don (Kathy) Sawatzky; one sister-in-law, Esther Sawatzky and many relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter; sons-in-law, Allen R. Baerg and Arnold J. Duerksen; brother, Louie Sawatzky and an infant sister.
