harold klassenFuneral services for 90-year-old Harold A. Klassen of Mountain Lake, Minnesota, will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 26, 2015 in Bethel Mennonite Church in Mountain Lake. The church is located at 301 9th Street North.

Interment will be in Mountain Lake City Cemetery, located at 10th Street North at Midway Road.

Pastor Galen Kauffman will officiate at the services.

Visitation will be at Sturm Funeral Home-Mountain Lake Chapel, on Sunday, January 25, 2015, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The funeral home is located at 420 10th Street North.

Harold Klassen passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2015, in Mountain Lake, just five days shy of his 91st birthday.

Harold A. Klassen was born on January 26, 1924,the son of Abram and Elizabeth (Janzen) Klassen in Mountain Lake.

Harold grew up on his parents’ farm south of Mountain Lake and attended country school and later graduated from Mountain Lake Public High School. After high school, Harold began farming the family farm and he would live there his entire life.

On September 7, 1947, Harold married Anna (Ann) Fast at Bethel Mennonite Church in Mountain Lake. Harold and Ann enjoyed over 66 years of marriage. Ann passed away on January 3, 2014. Harold was a member of Bethel Mennonite Church.

Harold had a passion for agriculture and farming that he passed on to his children and grandchildren. He was a lifelong active member of the Farm Bureau. Harold retired from farming in 1989, but kept his Hereford stock cows, which he continued to care for until the age of 90.

He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father and grandfather who lived each day by faith. He lived his life leaning on the verse from Nehemiah where it says, “The Joy of the Lord is my strength.” His faith was his family’s foundation.

Harold Klassen is survived by his children, Orvil (Karen) Klassen of Windom, Minnesota, Myra (Craig) Stoesz of Mound, Minnesota and Pauline (Keith) Buresch of Lakefield, Minnesota; a brother, Loyal (Bertha) Klassen of Mountain Lake; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and special in-laws.

He was proceeded in death by his wife, Ann; a daughter, Inez Klassen; a grandson, Levi Buresch and brothers, Frank, Louis, Donald and an infant brother, Albert.
