Utility/Street Project special assessment withdrawals, waivers filed

Mountain Lake City Council addresses revised salary compensation plan for affected employees

The Mountain Lake City Council met Monday, December 22, and the top point on the agenda were the 2012-2014 Utility and Street Project special assessments, particularly the withdrawal of special assessment objections and waivers of right to appeal.

Any withdrawals or waivers were to have been filed by noon on December 22. By that deadline, all property owners, with the exception of two, had filed. One of those two did file in mid-afternoon. Council members agreed to allow the late filer the adjusted special assessment amounts on his properties. They also granted the one non-filer until 4:30 p.m. on Monday, December 29 to file her withdrawal/waiver.

The council adopted the revised special assessment roll as presented, but added the corrections for the two property owners.

The revised special assessment roll is approximately $700,000 less than the original roll.

Salary compensation plan revised

Council members reviewed and discussed the revised salary compensation plan. They agreed to adjust the 2015 salaries for all affected non-union employees, and requested AFSCME (American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees) Local #578 to amend their current union contract to reflect the adjustments for affected AFSCME members.

Evaluation held for Clerk/Administrator

The annual evaluation for Mountain Lake City City Clerk/Administrator Wendy Meyer was held, with each council member, in turn, rating Meyer in areas of quality and quantity of work, attitude, knowledge, dependability, initiative, judgment, customer service and communication.

Strengths and weaknesses were discussed, along with 2014 activities and 2015 goals.

Another topic touched on was the Mountain Lake Trail.

No action was taken.
