Adeline Klassen passed away on Thursday, October 9, 2014, in Mountain Lake.

Adeline Helen Klassen was born on December 13, 1916 in Mountain Lake, the daughter of the late Henry G. and Maria Dick. She received her education in country school through the 8th-grade. She didn’t have the opportunity to attend high school, but later did attend Mountain Lake Community Bible School. Adeline accepted Jesus as her Savior at a young age and was baptized at First Mennonite Church in Mountain Lake.

On September 27, 1940 Adeline was united in marriage to Frank Klassen at the First Mennonite Church. They were blessed with four children, Joyce, Loren, Carol and Arlen. They lived on the farm for 40 years. In 1981, they built a new house on 6th Avenue in Mountain Lake.

Through the years, Adeline enjoyed gardening, canning, baking and reading and going on trips. She also enjoyed keeping records of family ancestry. She was involved in her church and enjoyed singing in groups and was active in the church kitchen. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be remembered for her twebach and dill pickles.

Two years ago, Adeline became a resident of The Good Samaritan of Mountain Lake-The Village. During her time there she enjoyed the trips she was able to take, being outdoors, going out with family and having lunch at Subway and talking on the phone with her children, sister and others.

Her favorite Bible verse has always been John 3:16. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

Adeline is survived by her children, Joyce (Jim) Smith of North Mankato, Minnesota, Loren (Gail) Klassen of Windom, Carol (Lee) Carlson of Balaton, Minnesota and Arlen (Cindy) Klassen of Mountain Lake; grandchildren, Brad (Michelle) Smith, Kimberly Smith, Shannon (Don) Flaherty, Troy (Angie) Klassen, Shane Carlson, Chelsey (Brian) Parrie, Lindsey (J.) Stroup, Trista (Ryan) Schuette, Tyler Klassen, Jason Klassen and Alyssa Klassen; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Della (H.K.) Sawyer of Central City, Nebraska; brother-in-law, Edgar Stoesz of Akron, Pennsylvania and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two sisters, a brother, Arthur Dick, a cousin, Walter Dick – whom she regarded as a second brother, a grandson and a daughter-in-law.
