robert a palmCelebration of Life Services for Robert A. Palm , 68, of Heron Lake, Minnesota, formerly of Mountain Lake, Minnesota will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday morning, April 29, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mountain Lake, with Reverend Peter Kufahl and Revevend Steven Weiss officiating.

Interment will be in Welcome City Cemetery in Welcome,  Minnesota.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday evening, April 28, 2014, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mountain Lake and again one hour prior to the services at the church.

Robert A. Palm passed away on Thursday evening, April 24, 2014, at his home in Heron Lake.

Robert August Palm was born June 26, 1945 in Fairmont, Minnesota, the son of Elmer and LaVonne (Russenberger) Palm. He resided in various Minnesota towns including Jackson, Welcome and Alpha, where Bob was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in May 1959. Robert attended school in Alpha and Jackson. He then joined the United States Air Force.

On March 7, 1964, he was united in marriage to Bertha Svalland at First Lutheran Church in Butterfield, Minnesota. After their marriage, they lived in Butterfield before moving to Mountain Lake. In 1965, they moved to Dundee, Minnesota, and both Bob and Bertha were employed by Campbell’s Soup Company in Worthington, Minnesota. In 1966, they moved back to rural Butterfield where they worked for various businesses in the area. In 1967, they moved to Mountain Lake where Bob worked for Land O’ Lakes and then Ag-Chem of Jackson until his retirement after 30 years of over-the-road semi-truck driving.

In 2007, they moved to Heron Lake to be closer to their family. Bertha died on March 17, 2008. Robert was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Mountain Lake and attended Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Okabena, Minnesota. He enjoyed playing cards and pool, fishing and doing home renovations and watching Fox News. Bob was an active member of the Heron Lake Senior Citizens Center, where he was recently elected President. He also enjoyed riding his new Kawasaki motorcycle with a local riding club.

Survivors include his four children, Tim Palm and Lisa Denn of St. Cloud, Minnesota, Teresa Burns and husband Bruce, of Humboldt, Iowa, Christopher Palm and wife Stephanie, of Hastings, Minnesota, Candace Eads and husband Scott, of New Richland, Minnesota; 12 grandchildren, Tanner, Alex, Emily, Nicholas, Shelby, Sydney, Luke, Severin, Reece, Eden, Samuel and Madelyn; one great-grandchild, Elijah; two sisters, Linnet Shover and husband Kenneth of rural Alpha, Minnesota and Linda Palm of Lakefield, Minnesota; a brother, Dennis Dunker of Willmar, Minnesota; two brothers-in-law, Myron Svalland of Bigelow, Minnesota and Elwood Svalland and wife Kathy, of rural Butterfield; a sister-in-law, JoAnn Junker and husband Ralph, of Butterfield; nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Preceding Robert in death were his parents; wife, Bertha Palm; great-grandchild, Silas; brothers-in-law, Lloyd Svalland and Elvin Junker; sister-in-law, Sonja Junker; stepfather, Otto Dunker; father- and mother-in-law, Lars and Esther Svalland and other relatives.
