Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Lake Crystal, Minnesota for 92-year-old John B. Quiring of Lake Crystal, with Father Tim Biren officiating. Burial with military honors will be held in the Holy Family Cemetery in Lake Crystal.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 pm tomorrow (Friday, April 18, 2014), at Lake Crystal Mortuary and one hour before the service at the church on Saturday.

John B. Quiring passed away on Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester,Minnesota.

John was born on May 24, 1921, the son of Bernhard and Hattie (Klassen) Quiring in Mountain Lake, Minnesota, and attended District #69 Country School.

John served his country in the United States Army during World War II in North Africa and Europe as a Private First Class in the Reconnaissance Company Tank Destroyer Battalion. He was a member of the V.F.W. and the Lake Crystal American Legion.

On February 17, 1947, John was united in marriage to Rosemary G. Berg in St. James, Minnesota. John was employed for 32 years as a car inspector for the railroad, retiring on June 1, 1981. He took great pride in his house and yard. He enjoyed gardening, remodeling homes, coin collecting and especially spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Rosemary of Lake Crystal; eight children: David Quiring of Lake Crystal, Kathy (Ray) Helder of Lake Crystal, Judith Gerdes of New Ulm, Minnesota Patricia, (Jim) Bathke of Wells, Minnesota, Mary (Dan) Gilman of Lake Crystal, Michael (Michelle) Quiring of Two Harbors, Minnesota, Nancy (Dan) Braam of New Ulm, and Angela (Jim) Grant of Chatfield, Minnesota; 16 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family.

John was preceded in death by his parents and nine siblings, Ben, Helen, Hattie, Martha, Ruby, Anna, Hank, Ted and Marie.
