Butterfield City Council extends BTA contract for another 10 years

Deny off-sale liquor license for Buckshot’s Bar & Grill

At their regular monthly meeting on Monday, April 14, the Butterfield City Council approved a 10-year extension of the Butterfield Threshermen’s Association (BTA) contract for 2013-2023 – with the addition of the 10 acres that was granted several years ago.

Council members voted to deny an off-sale liquor license to Klarice Rinne, owner of Buckshot’s Bar & Grill.

In other business

* Discussed with Alan Pankratz, church representative, the installation of a new sewer connection for the Community Bible Church. The installation was approved, and members also waived the connection fee due to the fact that it is an existing service.

* Learned about a couple of projects to be undertaken by Butterfield Maintenance Manager Brandon Winch. The first project is the installation of the remaining radio feed meters during the month of may. The filling of potholes and crack-filling in city streets will be the second work project. Discussion was held on street sweeper and dump truck repair. Discussion on painting a crosswalk in front of Butterfield Foods, across from the County Road, was also held. In addition, Council Member Nick Mathistad will check on the placement of a pedestrian crossing sign.

* Approved the bid of $2,699.83 from Bargen, Inc. of Mountain Lake to re-aluminize the roof of the Butterfield Fire Department building.

* Requested a monthly report on the gambling profits from the Eagle’s Club.

* Learned from Council Member Jim Warwick that he was requested a demonstration John Deere tractor for testing by Winch and Tom Anderson.

* Accepted the resignation of Noel Clipperton.

* Discussed placing gravel on certain areas of city streets. Approved projects for 3″ of gravel on three areas looked at by Anderson, gravel plus road repairs by Mathiowetz Construction of Sleepy Eyes for $1,000 on North Road and an additional 3″ of gravel on the road going to the the Threshing Bee at Voss Park.

* Approved the attendance of Butterfield City Clerk Leslie Heffele to attend the Clerk’s Conference in St.Cloud on June 18-21.

* Approved the March financials and bills.
