Junior High musicians participate in W/WG Solo/Ensemble Festival

Four instrumentalists receive ‘Excellence Awards’

On Friday, January 24, students in grades 6 through 8 at Mountain Lake Public School participated in a Junior High Solo and Ensemble Festival at Westbrook/Walnut Grove Public School in Westbrook, along with students from three other schools. Each student had prepared a solo or ensemble and had the opportunity to play for a judge and receive written and verbal feedback.

Four students received “Excellence Awards” (given to the top several performances that each judge heard during the day): Amy Bartsch (clarinet solo), Ethan Klassen (snare drum solo), Sophie Carrison (alto sax solo) and Janessa Johnson (trombone solo).

Kurt Jahnke is the school’s instrumental instructor.
