Ryan McCue recognized as Region 2A, Subsection 6 male Triple ‘A’ Award winner
It was Academics, Arts and Athletics for a triple for Mountain Lake Public High School (MLHS) senior Ryan McCue. McCue when he was recognized as the Region 2A, Subsection 6 male Triple “A” Award winner at the Boys Basketball Class A Section 2A South Final, held Monday, February 29, at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter.
The Triple “A” Awards, presented by the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL), are sponsored by AAA and Fairview.
The purpose of the Triple “A” Awards Program is to recognize and honor high school seniors who have excelled in the classroom, on the athletic field and in the fine arts; to elevate academic standards and create greater awareness of MSHSL-sponsored activities and their values and to provide MSHSL member schools the opportunity to participate in a statewide program that supports, promotes and recognizes academic and extra-curricular achievements.
To be eligible for the “Academics, Arts and Athletics” Award, student must be a high school senior, hold a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher, participate in MSHSL-sponsored athletics and fine arts activities and comply with the MSHSL’s Student Code of Conduct.
The award recipients are selected through a multi-level process involving MSHSL member schools, the MSHSL’s administrative regions and a special committee of educators, business leaders and members from the fine arts and athletic communities.
McCue, the son of son of Mike McCue and Leslie Erickson, is a participant in the MSHSL activities of cross country, boys basketball, track-and-field, band and choir.
(By the way, #1-seed St. Clair defeated Mankato Loyola, the #3-seed, 61 to 55 to claim the Section 2A South title. They will face the Section 2A North winner (and its #1-seed), Cleveland, on Friday, March 4, at the Taylor Center on the campus of Minnesota State University-Mankato.)
