Homecoming 2015’s reigning royal couple are King Ryan McCue, Queen Carmen Syverson
For Mountain Lake Homecoming Coronation 2015, alumni, students, staff – the community at large – were welcomed “home” to the Mountain Lake High School (MLHS) Disney Town – under the watchful ears of Mickey Mouse.
Coronation was held Saturday evening, September 26, in the school’s auditorium. Crowned as the reigning nobility for Homecoming Week were King Ryan McCue and Queen Carmen Syverson. The additional senior class royalty in their court are Ian Glassic and Chanah Brandt, Ethan Karschnik and Signey Stoesz and Dylan Hanson and Carly Fast. Rounding out the royal family are Junior Class Attendants Tommy Kraemer and Rebekah Klassen, Sophomore Class Attendants Weston Osland and Jae Faber and Freshmen Class Attendants Regan Syverson and Sierra Pankratz.
Serving as host and hostess for the eveng were Disney Prince Samuel Grev and Disney Princess Liana Blomgren.
Senior Akin Tema-Lopez presented an original piano Disney medley, and the captains of the fall sports – football, volleyball and cross country – shared thoughts on their seasons so far. Another senior, Michaela Cate, led the King and Queen candidates in a “Name That Disney Tune Game,” the young ladies versus the young men. (With the Queen candidates successfully naming the Disney movie connected to the music correctly more times than the King Candidates.
The entire upcoming Homecoming Week will be continue to be celebrated under the Disney Town theme.
All of the special activities are coordinated and presented by the Mountain Lake Public High School Student Council. Faculty Co-Advisors are Kim Syverson and Jaime Banks.

Sunday, September 27
+ Mountain Lake Public High School Student Council-sponsored 1- and 3-Mile Color Runs, High School, 4 p.m., $30 registration.
+ Hot dog supper (menu of hot dog, chips, water and cookie for $5) following the runs.
Monday, September 28
+ Sleeping Beauty Costume Day (wear your pajamas).
+ Class Of The Year Activity (COTY): Disney Trivia
+ Junior High and Junior Varsity Football, versus Westbrook/Walnut Grove (at Westbrook), 4:30 p.m. and 4:45 p.m.
Tuesday, September 29
+ Little Mermaid Costume Day (appropriate beachwear).
+ Cross Country at St. James, 4;30 p.m.
Wednesday, September 30
+ Monsters U Costume Day (college apparel).
+ COTY: Hungry Hippo.
Thursday, October 1
+ Beauty & The Beast Costume Day (dress up – or dress down).
+ Junior High Volleyball, in Windom, 4:30 p.m. and C, Junior Varsity and Varsity Volleyball, Edgerton in Mountain Lake, begins at 5 p.m.
Friday, October 2
+ Wolverine Spirit Day.
+ COTY: “Glory Road” Chair Basketball.
+ Varsity Football, Cleveland in Mountain Lake at Munson Field, 7 p.m.
