Brenda Kay Rohwer passed away at Chandler Regional Medical Center on Tuesday, September 22, 2015.
She was born on December 24, 1961 in Trimont, Minnesota, the daughter of Gerald and Marian Langeland of rural Butterfield, Minnesota. She attended elementary school in Odin, Minnesota and graduated from Butterfield-Odin Public High School in 1980. While attending high school, she participated in volleyball, basketball and band.
It was during her school days where and when she met the love of her life, Bryan Rohwer. They began their journey as kindergarten classmates and were united in marriage at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in rural Odin on August 4, 1984.
Soon after becoming married, they packed their belongings and headed to warmer weather in Chandler, where they built their home and began their life together.
In 1985, they became employed at America West Airlines. They enjoyed flying every flight together and cherished and adored every friendship they encountered, until Brenda was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012.
It was through the love and support of her “Army of Angels,” that allowed her to sustain her “staying strong and positive” attitude to the very end. Even through her battle with cancer and many other obstacles, their faith remained strong. Each day began with Bryan reading to Brenda from their daily devotional book called, “Jesus Calling.”
Brenda’s passions included spending time with her only love Bryan, along with spending time at home with her two dogs, Romeo and Pena and spending time with her family and friends. Brenda also enjoyed shopping, spending the summers at Lake Shetek in Minnesota, cheering on the Minnesota Vikings, entertaining, relaxing in their pool, redecorating and finishing projects around the house.
Brenda is survived by her husband, Bryan Rohwer of Chandler; her parents, Gerald and Marian Langeland of Butterfield; a brother, Brian (Colleen) Langeland of Owatonna, Minnesota; two sisters, Melanie (Kurt) Semmel of Stamford, Connecticut and Mary Lee Langeland of Chandler; three sisters-in-laws, Julie (Greg) Thymain of Morris, Minnesota, Deanna (Mike) Strenge of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Jennifer (Chris) Carlson of Omaha, Nebraska; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Preceding her in death were her paternal grandmother, maternal grandparents, father and mother-in-law, Robert and Sharyl Zender and brother-in-law, Mark Zender.
In lieu of flowers, it is requested that a donation in Brenda’s honor be made to a charity of your choice.
