Sweep guest MCC in three games; run season to 4-0

Lady Wolverines Varsity Volleyball rocked the guest Rebels from Murray County Central (MCC) in three games to claim the match win. The victory gives the team a 4-0 season record.

Stats breakdown is as follows:

+ Digs – Carmen, 9; Brook Sunderman, 8; Signey Stoesz, 7; Chanah Brandt, 6 and Marta Stoesz and Emily Jahnke, each with 3.
+ Serving – Signey also led from the scoring strip, serving 13/15 with a trio of aces; Marta went 12/13, also with three aces; Brook was 7/8 from the line with 1 ace and Jaden Hoek servede 3/4 with an ace.
+ Set Assists – Signey registered 10 set assists; Marta had 9 and Jaden, 3.
“It was an intense match with lots of great rallies,” reflects Head Coach Cheri Hanson, “but the Lady Wolves kept the intensity high and went after every ball.
“We knew it would be key to put up a big block in the middle against Mallory and Sydney from MCC and Carmen, Carly and Marta got the job done!”
The squad came out strong the first two games of the match, and switched up the line-up after a minor shakeup for Marta for game three. “The change, sliding Marta to the middle and Carmen outside worked well,” states Coach Hanson, “and proved that these girls are much more mentally tough than they have been in the last few weeks.
“They played as a team – and fought for every ball. I am so proud of these young women who fought for every play.
“Now we are anxious to get a look at some teams from our sub-section tomorrow (Saturday, September 12), when we compete in the Sleepy Eye Tournament.”
The regular season resumes for the Lady Wolves on Monday, September 14, when they travel to St. James to face the Saints. The following night (Tuesday, September 15), the Fulda Raiders come to the maroon-and-silver’s home court.
