One week after filings opened for the Mountain Lake Public School (MLPS) School Board election, incumbent Pam Hoek is, to date, the lone person to file, placing her name in re-election to the board.

The candidate filing period for MLPS School Board opened on Tuesday, July 28, and will run until 5 p.m. next Tuesday, August 11. Four board members will be elected to four-year terms at the Tuesday, November 3 general election.

Board members whose terms are up this year include Chad Pedersen, Julie Brugman, Pam Hoek and Tom Fast (who replaced Julie Peters on her term).

The filing fee for the office is $2. A candidate for the office must be an eligible voter, must be 21-years-old or more on assuming office, must have been a resident of the school district from which the candidate seeks election for 30 days before the general election and must have not other affidavit on file for any other office at the same primary or next ensuing general election.

Affidavits of candidacy must be filed in the office of the school district clerk.
