Second annual MLHS Student Talent Show is this Friday
Mountain Lake Public High School’s (MLHS) Haydn-to-Hip Hop Class, taught by Mountain Lake Public Schools music teacher and high school choir director Andrea Brinkman, will sponsor the 2nd Annual MLHS Student Talent Show this Friday, March 27, beginning at 7 p.m. in the school auditorium.
Students in grades 7-12 will be performing a variety of talents – from vocal solos to vocal duets to comedy acts to instrumental numbers to dance selections. A total of 13 acts will be competing. Cash prizes will be $75 for first-place act, $50 for second-place and $25 for third-place. Community judges will be Mitch Schroeder, Nick Naxay and Kris Langland.
A free will donation will be collected upon entry. Funds raised will go towards a Haydn-to-Hip Hop class student trip to the birthplace of Rock-N-Roll – Memphis, Tennessee and Nashville, Tennesse.
In addition, the night will feature a “Clash of the Classes,” a competition between each high school class to showcase themselves with a lip sync, skit, dance, etc. Judges will rank the classes from grades 7-12 from #1-#6. They classes will earn COTY (class of the year) points for their rankings, as well as a class prize, and the winning class, a traveling trophy.

* Amethyst Hopkins – Vocal Solo to “You Haven’t Seen the Last of Me” by Cher from the Burlesque soundtrack.
* Liana Blomgren and Karen Soutthivong – Comedy Duet.
* Ruben Fentanez and Ryan McCue – Vocal Duet.
* Signey Stoesz and Lydia HIldebrandt – Vocal Duet of “Fly” by Maddie & Tae.
* Joel Salgado – Free-Style Dance to “Chain Hang Low” remix.
* Byron Franz, Eric Wenner and Levi Jahnke – Original instrumental composition.
* Liana Blomgren – Vocal Solo of “Stay With Me” by Sam Smith,
* Akin Tema-Lopez – Original bass improvisation.
* Junior Louangsaphakdy and Tiger Segmany – Comedy Duet Act.
* Levi Jahnke – Guitar Solo of “Like A Cowboy” by Randy Houser.
A special guest appearance will be made by the Haydn-to-Hip Hop Class as they share a “Midget Dance” skit.
