MLHS Speech Team at Jordan Junior High Meet

Kayla Vonk takes top honors in Informative Speaking

Three members of the Mountain Lake Public High School (MLHS) Speech Team competed on Thursday, February 26 at the Jordan Junior High Speech Meet at Jordan Middle School.

Twelve schools participated, with approximately 200 students competing. Some of the schools at the meet, aside from MLHS and host Jordan, were South St. Paul, Janesville/Waldorf/Pemberton, St. Peter, New Prague, Waterville/Elysian, Glencoe, Maple River and Belle Plaine.

Kayla Vonk placed first in the category of Informative Speaking. Also competing in the contest for MLHS were David Hall in Poetry and Amy Bartsch in Humorous.

Team coach is Alisa Nickel.

This Saturday, February 28, the team will be in Sherburn competing in the Martin County West (MCW) Superhero Speech Meet.
