Mountain Lake Ice Rink’s event is Saturday

AN OPEN HOUSE celebrating outdoor skating – and the new warming house – will be held Saturday, January 6, at the Mountain Lake Ice Rink from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The rink is located east of Mountain Lake Public School (MLPS). Served up will be hot chocolate, hot apple cider and bars. there will be free books for little kids. All ages are welcome to attend – and maybe event try out the ice. There are some pairs of skates available to borrow. The event is sponsored by Friends of the Pool, Mountain Lake Early Childhood Initiative (ECI) and the Mountain Lake Active Living Committee. The new warming house was set rinkside on July 21, with the interior work completed on November 29. Friends of the Pool, using the group’s fundraising reserve funds collected over the years, paid for the purchase and installation of the cottage house. The addition to the rink was approved by both MLPS and the Mountain Lake City Council. The warming house is located on school district property, while the City of Mountain Lake will furnish liability insurance, electricity, necessary equipment and supervision for the rink operations. The 10′ x 16′ Cottage Pavilion Pro Shed was constructed by Elmendorf Colony of rural Mountain Lake.
