Mountain Lake Municipal Utility water, sewer electric rate increases

Effective on usage beginning on January 1, 2018; New rates to be noticed on bills due March 5

 

The City of Mountain Lake’s Municipal Utility took action – effective January 1, 2015 – to increase water, sewer and electric rates.

As an example, a household using 4,000 gallons of water per month will see a water bill increase of $1.12 per month. The sewer increase for this same household will be 77¢ a month. Residential sewer rates are billed at a flat rate; only commercial/industrial bills are based on usage. In looking at electricity charges, increases will be in average annual adjustment estimate, residential, rural residential commercial, large commercial, large rral commercial customer base charges, along with all energy for each division, as well as customer base charge and energy charge for city facilities and street lighting. The Conservation Improvement Plan remains at 1.5%.

These changes are effective on usage beginning on January 1, 2018. New rates will be noticed on bills due March 5.

New Residential Water Rates

+ Base – $30.41.

+ 1,000 to 6,999 gallons – $7.04 per 1,000 gallons.

+ 7,000 to 12,999 gallons – $7.88 per 1,000 gallons.

+ 13,000 to 25,999 gallons – $9.01 per 1,000 gallons.

+ 26,000+ – $10.14 per 1,000 gallons.

New Rural Water Rates

+ Base – $31.53.

+ 1,000 to 6,999 gallons – $7.88 per 1,000 gallons.

+ 7,000 to 12,999 gallons – $9.01 per 1,000 gallons.

+ 13,000 to 25,999 gallons – $10.14 per 1,000 gallons.

+ 26,000+ gallons – $11.26 per 1,000 gallons.

New Commercial/Industrial Water Rates

+ Base – $30.41.

+ 1,000 to 50,000 gallons – $7.60 per 1,000 gallons.

+ 51,000+ gallons – $7.88 per 1,000 gallons.

New Residential/Rural Sewer Rates

+ Base – $41.40 for residential; $44.16 for rural. (Sewer bills are set at a flat rate for residential/rural.)

New Commercial/Industrial Rates

+ Base – $0.00.

+ 0 to 3,000 gallons of water used – $44.16.

+ 3,001+ gallons of water used – $8.27 per 1,000 gallons.

New Electric Rate Power Cost Adjustment

+ Base cost per KWH (kilowatt hour) – 6.5¢ (no change).

+ Average annual adjustment estimate – 0.87¢.

New Residential Electric Rates

+ Customer base charge – $11.

+ All energy – 10.75¢ per KWH.

New Rural Residential Electric Rates

+ Customer base charge – $14.

+ All energy – 10.95¢ per KWH.

New Commercial (Under 20 Kilowatts) Electric Rates

+ Customer base charge – $20.

+ All energy – 10.80¢ per KWH.

New Large Commercial, Large Rural Commercial (Over 20 Kilowatts) Electric Rates

+ Customer base charge – $50.

+ Demand charge – 10.55¢ per kilowatt.

+ Energy charge – 6.50¢ per KWH.

City Facilities and Street Lighting

+ Customer base charge – $20.

+ Energy charge – 7.60¢ per KWH.

  • Drop-off in box outside Mountain Lake City Hall at 930 3rd Avenue.
  • Drop off at the Mountain Lake City Hall counter during business hours, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday to Friday

+ By Cash:

  • Drop-off in box outside Mountain Lake City Hall at 930 3rd Avenue.
  • Drop off at the Mountain Lake City Hall counter during business hours, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday to Friday. (It is preferred that customers paying cash do so at the counter during business hours.)

+ By Automatic Withdrawal:

+ By Online Bill Pay:

  • Available on the city’s website at www.mountainlakemn.com with debt or credit card. (There is a fee when paying bill online with credit or debit cards. The size of the fee is determined by GovPayNet, the service provider, and is based on the size of the bill and the type of card used. GovPayNet provides the online service and GovPayNet keeps all the fees.)
