Lake Commission holds December meeting

Set to apply for Invasive Species Grant for weed harvester replacement, operation

 

 

The City of Mountain Lake’s Lake Commission net last night (Monday, December 11) at Mountain Lake City Hall.

Lake Commission Member Dave Bucklin presented an application for an Invasive Species Grant from the State of Minnesota. The commission will apply for $20,000 for the weed harvester replacement fund and $10,000 for operating funds. Mountain Lake City Administrator/Clerk Wendy Meyer will complete the application and bring it forward to the Mountain Lake City Council for approval.

+ Mountain Lake Trail:

  • Bargen Inc of Mountain Lake completed the crack sealing of the trail for $5,300.
  • Garbage cans that will be placed by the dam will be ordered soon.
  • Bucklin has cut down and removed the tree that was blocking the trail on the island.

+ Mountain Lake Aeration:

  • Lake Commission Chair Jason Kruser has received the aeration permit and has completed the required paperwork.
  • The “Thin Ice” advertisements have been published.
  • There is a 60-day window in which to start the aeration system before additional ads must be run.
  • The “Thin Ice” sings will place after the first of the year. Mountain Lake/Odin/Ormsby Sportsmen’s Club (MLOOSC) President Rich Gisch will request for assistance from club members.

+ Fishing Pier:

  • Members approved the purchase of a Handyman Jack (up to a maximum of $200) to replace the old one.
  • Lake Commission Member Jason Honkomp will deliver the wood to be used to construct the benches on the fishing pier to the city.

+ Lake Beach:

  • Streets and Parks Superintendent Rick Oeltjenbruns and Andy Kehren, city engineer, have looked at the lake beach and made decisions as to where fill will be added for the benches and fire pit.

+ Open Forum:

  • Rachel Yoder commented about motorized vehicles using their driveway to gain access to the Mountain Lake

+ The Lake Commission meets the second Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m.
