In support of Trenton Bass, a football player with the Hills-Beaver Creek (H-BC) Patriots who was injured in a football game against the Mountain Lake Area (MLA) Wolverines on Friday, September 8, football parents will be hosting a fundraiser at the Thursday, September 28 home volleyball game versus H-BC at Mountain Lake Public School’s auditorium. The menu will feature a Walking Taco meal with the fixings, drink and cookie. Serving will run from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The cost of the meal will be $6, but donations will be welcomed.

Trenton, a 17-year-old from Hills who had just begun his senior year at H-BC, sustained a traumatic neck injury when making a tackle in the game at Munson Field. That same night, he underwent surgery at Avera Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to repair two broken vertebrae. The surgery went smoothly, but evidence of paralysis is currently present. He is able to move his arms and is able to feed himself using the a device that aides with gripping. Since the game, Trenton has been gaining more feeling down his torso, from his breastbone almost to his navel.

And he was recently named Homecoming King 2017.

Trenton is heading this week to Craig Rehab in Denver, Colorado to continue the recovery process.
