Wrestlers hold camp in MLHS Wrestling Room – a. k. a. ‘Old Gym’

 

 

Members of the Windom/Mountain Lake (W/ML) Cobra Nation participated in a Cobra Wrestling Camp, held Monday, June 5 through Wednesday, June 7, in the Mountain Lake Public High School Wrestling Room – a. k. a. the “Old Gym.”

The camp, organized by Cobra Varsity Co-Coaches Nick Kulseth and Travis Elg, featured as head clinician Coach Chris Bono, the current Head Wrestling Coach for the South Dakota State University (SDSU) Jackrabbits in Brookings, South Dakota. Coach Bono was named the 2017 Big XII Coach of the Year. Bono was a three-time All-American while wrestling for Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. In 1996, he was the 150-pound D1 National Champion. Bono was also a United States National Champ and World Team Member.

Additional clinicians were John Reader and A. J. Schopp, both current SDSU Assistant Wrestling Coaches. Reader was a D1 National Champ and a three-time D1 All-American. Schopp was a four-time D1 Qualifier and a three-time D1 All-American (3rd, 4th, 4th).
