‘Sweet stroll’

MLHS seniors bid farewell to elementary students

In one door – and out the other.

That has been the route for the Mountain Lake Public High School (MLPS) Class of 2017 as they began their education as kindergarten students, wove their way through the elementary grades, headed to junior high, then senior high – and eventually will head out the “bell door” as alumni.

That was also the course the soon-to-be graduates took this afternoon (Wednesday, May 24) as they took a “sweet stroll” through those same elementary corridors, entering through the preschool/kindergarten doors, made a right turn and headed past second- and third-grade classroms and then turned the final corner, exiting along the fourth-, fifth- and sixth-grade hallway, bidding farewell to elementary students along the way. This walk taken by the class additionally serves to inspire the younger students to keep reaching and striving for their educational goals and dreams.

Along the way, the 38 seniors were saluted with applause, hugs and greetings from siblings and “high” (and “low”) fives from students and staff.

Commencement for the Class of 2017 will be held in the Mountain Lake Public School Auditorium, beginning at 7 p.m.

Below are a few photos from that stroll:
