Acacia, Oak and Cedar classrooms hold annual Speech Meet

Mountain Lake Christian (MLC) Elementary students in the Acacia (Grades 1-2), Oak (Grades 3-4) and Cedar (Grades 5-6) held their annual Elementary Speech Meet on Friday afternoon, March 3, in their individual classrooms.

Participating students included –

+ Acacia – Caleb Klassen, Cameron Meyer, Nate Toutges, Taryn Marcy, Kirstin Nickel, Shelby Penner, Isaac Nowak, Ezra Petersen, Jessah Janzen, Jackson Stoneking, Quin Vidana, Katie Johnson, Audrey Dick, Ben Moller, Harlie Krueger, Mareena Onken, Levi Onken, Ava Lepp, Sofia Flohrs, Alden Klassen and Owen Klassen.

+ Oak – Zach Klassen, Layken Marcy, Bailey Meyer, Collin Toutges, Alexis Nickel, Fairlane Penner, Kaleb Nowak, Sam Petersen, William Berg, Cristy Renteria-Rojas, Madelyn Oltmans, Isabella Canty, Daniel Smith, Isaiah Rete and Ethan Schroeder.

+ Cedar – Meghan Johnson, Luke Moller, Lydia Moller, Monroe James, Luke Klassen, Abi Renteria-Rojas, Evan Oltmans, Tiegen Meyer, Ella Toutges, Lydia Rete, Isabella Vidana, Tyler Dick, Lydia Cavanaugh, Jordan Linscheid and Aiden Penner.

ZACH KLASSEN, FROM the Oak classroom, utilizes facial expressions and hand gestures to drive home his speech to the audience.

MONROE JAMES, A student in the Cedar classroom, makes the points of her speech with emphasis.

 

CEDAR STUDENT ABI Renteria-Rojas transforms into Sojourner Truth as she speaks the women’s rights activist’s own words.

 

“Ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country,” extols Cedar student Evan Oltmans in his cutting from the January 20, 1961 Inaugural Address of President John F. Kennedy.

 

A DUO OF judges were in each classroom critiquing the young orators. Judging in the Oak classroom were MLC senior Danica Dick, left, and 2015 MLC grad Elijah Stoesz, right. Both participated on the MLC Speech Team during high school.
