All-Tourney Team honors

2016 MLA Holiday Tourney awards for boys/girls

The 2016 Mountain Lake Area (MLA) Holiday Tournament All-Tourney Team honors have been awarded to boys and girls basketball players competing in play over the course of the two days.

For the boys, six players were recognized, including two from each of the undefeated teams – Legacy Christian Academy (defeated Renville County West and MLA) and Cedar Mountain/Comfrey (downed MLA and Renville County West).

Honored for their hard court play were:

+ Cole Bertsch – 6’1″ senior from Legacy Christian.

+ Josh Niessen – 6’3″ senior of Legacy Christian.

+ Derek Pendleton – 6’2″ senior of Cedar Mountain/Comfrey.

+ Wambde Diaz – 6′ junior from Cedar Mountain/Comfrey.

+ Justin Schrupp – 6’1″ sophomore from Renville County West.

+ Levi Stoesz – 6′ senior of MLA.

 

MLA 6′ SENIOR guard Levi Stoesz received 2016 MLA Holiday Tournament Boys All-Tourney Team honors.

 

Five All-Tourney awards were presented to girls team members. Only one team – MLA – was undefeated in the tourney (defeating Renville County West and Legacy Christian), and two Wolverine players were honored.

Recognized as All-Tourney were:

+ Brook Sunderman – 5’5″ senior from MLA.

+ Taylor Naas – 5’4″ sophomore from MLA.

+ Mari Smitsdorff – 6’1″ senior from Legacy Christian.

+ Emma Woebler – 5’4″ senior of Westbrook-Walnut Grove.

+ Aleah Zieske – 5’9″ eighth-grader of Renville County West.

 

BROOK SUNDERMAN, 5’5″ MLA senior guard was named to the Girls All-Tourney Team for her play during the 2016 MLA Holiday Tournament.

 

A SECOND WOLVERINE, 5’4″ sophomore guard Taylor Naas, was also named to the Girls All-Tourney Team. MLA went 2-0 in tournament play.
