Mountain Lake’s July 21 Crazy Day to glow like crazy
In 1952, the Mills Brothers brought the idea of “glow-in-the-dark” to the American public with their song, Glow Worm – “Shine little glow-worm, glimmer, glimmer.”
On Thursday, July 21, the Mountain Lake Area Chamber of Commerce – and supporting businesses – will tap into that glowing idea for a “Glow Crazy!” Crazy Day. That phosphorescence will shine far above and beyond the little glow worm, however. Think neon luminescent shoes, clothes, headgear, eyewear, accessories and accents, store product displays (the imagination is the limit). The dazzling radiance will be made complete with food, fun – and (g)low, (g)low prices.

The employers and employees in each of the supporting businesses will be clad in glowing neon-colored costumes. At every one of the businesses, patrons will have the opportunity to vote on his or her favorite worker’s attire. The one with the most votes will win $50 in Chamber Bucks.

+ Sweet Fields –
- 50-cent ice cream cones all day.
+ 10th Street Pickers/Mountain Lake Floral –
- Free coffee and muffins from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.
+ Our Hometown Café –
- Cini-minis from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m.
- Happy Hour, $2 shakes, malt and smoothies at 2 p.m.
- $2/dozen donut balls from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
- Take-N-Make fruit pies, $2 each, all day.
- Supper Buffet, $5, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

- Hot Dog, chips and soda, $2.50 in the Maynard’s/Peterson Drug parking lot, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

+ The Good Samaritan Society-Mountain Lake –
- Table by Maynard’s promoting this year’s Good Sam Color Jam, including a guessing game for FREE race registration and “sweet” sunglasses that will help folks snap, crackle and “glow” crazy!
+ Kids Activities in Mountain Lake City Park –
- POET corn wagon, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m
- Pipe Cleaner Painting, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Tug-Of-War at 11:15 a.m., 11:45 a.m., 12:15 p.m. and 12:45 p.m. with each winning team receiving a prize.
- Bucket Water Relay at 11 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 12 noon and 12:30 p.m. with each winning team receiving a prize.
