Includes municipal and school district offices
Before a general election – this year on Tuesday, November 8 – there is a two-week filing period during which candidates can submit their affidavit of candidacy.
Aside from federal, state and county offices, that that also includes filings for municipal, school district, and hospital district offices. The two-week filing period in 2016 will run from Tuesday, August 2 through 5 p.m. on Tuesday, August 16.
Those interested in becoming a candidate may fill out the filing form with their respective city clerk (or in the case of those filing for Butterfield-Odin School Board, with the school office) and pay the filing fee, if any.
